During the hackathon and the presentation to the Federal Parliament, the projects will be evaluated by an independent jury according to the following criteria:
• The concept empowers patients to take responsibility for the prevention or management of their disease
• The concept is innovative
• The concept will have a positive economic impact on society
• The concept meets a need
• The concept shows potential for further development and implementation
No prior knowledge or ideas are required to register for the hackathon. During the hackathon, innovation experts will guide you through the latest design thinking techniques. Healthcare experts such as partners, patient associations and healthcare professionals will also be present to guide you.
Yes. A maximum of 100 students can participate in the event. Since places are limited, we operate on a first come, first served basis.

The deadline for registration is October 13, 2023, at 4:00 pm. Please be aware that the event may have reached its full capacity before this date.
You should bring yourself, a great attitude and a laptop!
No. We will provide sandwiches, snacks and drinks for both days of the hackathon.
No. You don’t need to have a background in healthcare to participate in the Healthcare Heroes hackathon. Whether you are a student in pharmacy, marketing, business, nursing, communication, management… you can participate!
The hackathon will be held in English. As many Dutch-speaking and French-speaking students will participate, this will enhance all communication. For the presentation of the cases however, each student can speak in his own language.
The Healthcare Heroes hackathon is open to all higher education students in Belgium.
